Access Statement for "Byways" Bed and Breakfast

Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of our visitors where possible and to offer them a pleasant and safe stay in our property.

Pre-Arrival

  • There are no bus services directly into the village. The nearest bus stops are located about one mile away, the buses accessing Penzance/St. Ives and Truro.
  • A National Express coach stop is about one and a half miles distance in Hayle (Copperhouse).
  • A train station is located about two miles distance in the town of Hayle.
  • A double en-suite bedroom "Orchard", and a single en-suite bedroom "Windowboxes" are on the ground floor. A further en-suite double bedroom "Treetops" is on the first floor.

    Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

  • There is parking space for three cars adjacent to the house and off the road. Please note that our drive entrance is narrow and joins onto a steep hill. Parking can be tight at times depending on the size of guest's vehicles.
  • Please click on "Location", then "Angarrack" for directions to reach "Byways" on our website.
  • Assistance with luggage is always offered when guests arrive and leave.
  • There is good exterior lighting between the car parking area and house entrance.
  • Flat surface with gravel or paving slabs are found between the car parking area and house entrance.
  • Guide dogs are welcome.

    Main Entrance, Reception and Public Areas

  • An entrance door opens into the hall. There are two steps up to the entrance of 20cms and 15cms height respectively, a very wide tread lying between them. Door width is 81 cms.
  • Guests are escorted to rooms on arrival, and facilities explained.
  • The dining room/sitting room has a fitted carpet. The hall has a wooden floor and a mat.
  • Tea or coffee is offered on arrival in the dining room/sitting room.
  • Breakfast is served in the dining room/sitting room, on a rectangular table height 70 cms. All chairs at table are without arms and can be moved on request. Furthermore the sitting room also has a three-seater settee and two armchairs.
  • Vegetarian, vegan or other diets are catered for having been given suitable notice.
  • Full waiter/waitress service.
  • No background music is played on the premises.

    Bedrooms and Bathrooms

  • All bedrooms are lockable.
  • Televisions are in all bedrooms.
  • Carpets in bedrooms are fitted. Bathrooms and toilets have fitted linoleum.
  • Lighting conforms with regulations stipulated for the visually impaired.
  • "Orchard" has both a bath (height 55cms, width 50cms, length 132 cms) and a shower above, with adjacent hand-rail, and separate wash hand-basin, height 78 cms with clear underspace. Separate W.C., height 42 cms. All doors 79 cms width. Not suitable for wheelchairs.
  • "Windowboxes" is a spacious single room. Door to room width 79 cms. Ensuite bathroom door width 56 cms. It comprises shower with entrance height 33 cms, wash hand-basin, height 82 cms with clear underspace, and W.C. height 42 cms. There is a hand-rail by the W.C.
  • "Treetops" is reached by a wooden staircase with wood hand-rail consisting of 14 steps each rising by 19 cms. Ensuite consists of shower, wash hand-basin and toilet of standard heights.

  • If needed a fridge is available in our kitchen for the storage of medicines.
